Inspirations

Rachel Aswell- Shabby Chic

A new style thats making its impact within fashion and interior design is Shabby Chic, think victoriana cross with Maria Antoinette and you're just about there, the term was coined by Rachel Aswell who owned a shop of the same name, I love the furnishings and interiors, this is definate strong influence for our designs.

More design research.

Continuing again straying slightly from the fashionable approach to this brief but to the cute and kitsch side of design, while our main audience is 16-24 i don't personally believe this type of style is too patronsing or childish, it seems popular on bags and tshirts bought by the same audience so I feel this is valid research.

Flip Flop Design;

White Pixel Design;

Crowded Teeth Design;

Kitsch design.

I noticed from the Tissue Packs that cute minimal solid colour illustration and design is popular within accessories and homeware etc, so I began looking for inspiration regarding this type of design, which led me to the designs of Paper Chase

Fashion inspiration.

Victoriana Fashions

Noticing the popularity of Victorian based fashion accessories at the moment, I began looking into hand made crafts and jewelry, I found two beautiful sites selling lovely items such as necklaces, mirrors etc inspired by these.

Cath Kidston

The brief wants us to create a series of sets for both packs and boxes (and/or) that reflect the buyers fashionable interests and styles, both in homeware/furnishings (boxes) and fashion/cosmetic accessories (pocket packs). So I decided to look at the designs of textile based design Cath Kidston whose floral patterns are reminiscent of vintage 1930s shabby chic patterns, I love the pastel patterns and the application of them to all sorts of products.
